Samsung Frame Pro vs Standard Frame: Is the Upgrade Worth It?

Samsung now sells two versions of The Frame: the standard QLED model and the Frame Pro with Neo QLED. Both display art from the Samsung Art Store and mount flush on your wall. The question is whether the Pro's better display justifies the price premium.

What Neo QLED Changes

The Frame Pro's Neo QLED uses Mini LED backlighting with local dimming zones. In practical terms, this means:

  • Better contrast — dark areas of artwork render as true black, not washed-out gray
  • Brighter highlights — oil paintings and photography with bright elements pop more
  • More uniform lighting — fewer bright spots or uneven patches across the screen
  • Better HDR — if you watch TV content, the Pro is noticeably better for movies

For art display specifically, the contrast improvement matters most. Dark-background artwork (classic paintings, moody photography) looks significantly better on the Pro.

When to Buy the Standard Frame

  • You want a smaller size (43″–55″) — the Pro only comes in 65″+
  • You are on a budget — the standard Frame starts at $1,000
  • Your room has soft lighting — the standard display looks great in dim or ambient-lit rooms
  • Art display is secondary to TV use — both models have the same smart TV features

When to Buy the Frame Pro

  • You want the best art display quality Samsung offers in the Frame line
  • You are buying 65 inches or larger anyway
  • Your room gets bright daylight — the Pro's enhanced anti-reflection handles it better
  • You display a lot of dark or high-contrast artwork
  • You also use the TV for movies and HDR content

What About Samsung OLED?

If budget is flexible, Samsung's S95H and S90H OLED models now include the Art Store too. OLED offers even better contrast than Neo QLED (true pixel-level dimming), and the S95H's glare-free technology is best-in-class. See our full Samsung Frame TV Guide for the complete 2026 lineup.

The Bottom Line

The Frame Pro is a meaningful upgrade for art display, especially in bright rooms or at larger sizes. But the standard Frame at $1,000–$1,500 is still an excellent art TV and the better value for most buyers. Unless you are specifically buying 65″+ and want the best possible art experience, the standard Frame delivers 80% of the Pro's quality at a significantly lower price.
